Redefining the long-standing maritime tradition of naming a ship “Godmother,” it’s the first time in Disney Cruise Line history that children have been recognized in this prestigious role that symbolically bestows good fortune on the ship and its travelers. .

The godchildren of this unique ship of wishes will join the magical group of Godmothers of the Disney Cruise Line fleet, including Patty DisneyTinker Bell, Jennifer Hudson and Mariah Carey.

During the Disney Wish naming ceremony, the children of Make-A-Wish will recite the blessing of the new ship, evoking the spirit of optimism for which The Walt Disney Company is known. The event will be an unforgettable celebration of enchantment that will showcase the innovative new ship and celebrate Make-A-Wish as a key part of wish-fulfillment aboard all Disney Cruise Line ships.

Since 1980, Disney and Make-A-Wish have helped grant life-changing wishes to more than 145,000 children with life-threatening illnesses around the world. Historically, one in two wishes granted in the United States through Make-A-Wish was a Disney wish, with many of those wishes involving visits to worldwide Disney destinations and crossings with Disney Cruise Line.

Limited Edition Disney Wish Merchandise Collection

To celebrate the Disney Wish and the incredible power of wishes, Disney Cruise Line has worked with Make-A-Wish to create an exclusive line of merchandise that includes a mickey mouse and Minnie Mouse plush, ear headband, lapel pin, spirit jersey and tumbler.

Disney will donate 10% of the purchase price from the sale of each Disney Wish Limited Edition collection item to date. July 18, 2023, to Make-A-Wish to grant even more life-changing wishes. Disney Cruise Line also donated a stateroom aboard a Disney Wish sailboat, an initiative that raised more than $260,000. Proceeds will go to Make-A-Wish and Give Kids The World Village, a non-profit resort located in Central Florida which provides children with serious illnesses and their families from all over the world a magical week-long vacation at no cost.
